Ali and his wife won the diversity visa lottery, but they've been separated after eight years of living together. This decision, barring individuals with forced IRGC conscription from entry, is unjust and has led to family separations. Although Ali's forced conscription was 14 years ago but he was not given a chance to submit a waiver and prove that the conscription was forced and he had no choice. He hopes department of state issue a guideline for a waiver in this matter.
