In June 2020, I arrived in America with my sister and mom, leaving my dad behind. Since arriving at age 10, I've missed him terribly, crying every night and feeling lonely and scared. Our FaceTime chats only briefly ease the longing for his hugs, support, and shared moments. Witnessing father-daughter activities is painful, knowing he's far away. The heartbreak of our airport goodbyes, with his recorded last moments, echoes daily in an empty house. Nearly 4 years apart, due to forced IRGC conscription 29 years ago, weigh heavily on us and it is so unfair.
