As a 72-year-old mother and a citizen of the United States, I applied for an immigrant visa for my son, who was the legal guardian of my daughter suffering from severe autism. Unfortunately, his visa was denied due to forced conscription. Meanwhile, I was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer, requiring chemotherapy. Balancing my treatments with caring for my daughter became increasingly challenging. With time not on my side, I worry about who will care for my daughter if I'm no longer alive and if the US doesn't approve Madjid's visa.
